Honor the Entire Journey
Building your dream life is a journey. One that should be honored from day one. Just like the changing of the seasons, you too will experience different business season. The excitement and rebirth or starting a new business. To the long summer that leads to fall and to the coldness of winter. Only to be reborn again in the spring. It’s a long incredible journey filled with changes. That’s why it’s incredibly important to honor every single phase. Every hard step, even if it’s your first step or your one thousandth step. You are really brave.
Being an entrepreneur and a business owner can be an incredibly lonely road. When it comes time to hustle, we are the ones who are up late typing away. We are the ones who are up early worshiping the sun and hit the ground running again. We don’t realize how alone we will truly feel. We just don’t. Because life isn’t that bowl full of cherries. It’s hard. We think that we can transcend time and space. But we don’t realize how hard it is actually going to be. We don’t realize that we are going to have to climb out over and over, just to find ourselves back at square one.
When we actually experience these things it’s debilitating.
Then it’s like a total rebirth.
Things have to get really dark in order for you to see the light. If you thought you could just show up and skip along, it’s going to hurt. Because you are going to get your shoe caught on the side walk and fall on your face. Maybe even break your nose. But you know what the difference is between you and all those other people. You get up.
You wipe the blood off and reapply your mascara.
You get up. Every time I have fallen as a business owner I just get up again. Again and again. I fall hard again, again and again. Until all those around me have given up. That’s when you are they only one left standing. People think you just appeared out of no where. They think you blew up over night. They didn’t see the struggles the broken bones and all those defeated moments. But you did. You felt them to the core. They hurt. You have the scars to prove it.
People only see success. They don’t see how amazing your journey truly was. We’ve become a society who rewards those on top, instead of pushing those up along the way.
No matter where you are in your journey, I honor your bruises. I know that I can’t compare my middle to some one else’s ending. Why am I sharing this? Because I believe in you. SO you know that you are the one who gets back up. You are the one who falls hard and then keeps going. You don’t leave all your work behind and give up. You learn the hard way. You accept and only follow the path that is hard.
There is no yellow brick road leading to OZ. You make the road. You build it. You are the trailblazer. So the next time you look at someone else and think wow, I can’t do what they are doing. They got lucky. You are right, you can’t. You can’t do it. Because no one ever gets fucking lucky. You can only do it when you realize how amazing you are and that it’s going to take some serious hustle.
The secret sauce to success is consistency. Those who are further along in their journey, those who didn’t give up, they believed in themselves more than anyone else did. They work harder than those around them. When people mock them they use it as fuel because they don’t even fucking care. You are that person. You are the true success story. You are just still writing the ending and you get to write it your way.
Work hard. Honor the falls. Pick yourself up and keep doing the shit that is going to give you your fairy tale ending. You are just that lucky.
BELIEVE IN YOU.
I have told countless people how much I believe in them. I have exhausted myself trying to get them to see what they have is incredible. However, it always falls short if they can’t see it for themselves. You are the one that has to put yourself in that seat everyday. You are the one who has to see the bigger picture. Yes, you will find mentors along the way that will help you stand taller and see past that huge mountain in front of you. Yet at the end of the day, you have to believe in you.
If you are stuck waiting for someone to do it for you, you sill never see that true badass lurking underneath. YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN YOU! Put your head down and do the work, badass. You are the only one who can create the magic inside. Your journey is sacred. Your version of success is going to be different than anyone else. There is no magical crystal ball that tells you what to do. If you stay stuck on trying to define success you fail to see the journey you are on.
Fall in love with the journey. Not the success.
